Kind Consultancy is working with a well-established insurance business which is currently seeking a Senior Compliance Officer to join them on a permanent basis in a role paying circa £40,000. The organisation is based in Birmingham, and while this is primarily a remote role there will be a requirement to visit the office once every six weeks.

The Senior Compliance Officer will help the Compliance function to convey specific compliance messages to key stakeholders, in a clear, concise, and collaborative manner. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying key stakeholders, and aiming to further embed the Compliance Framework within the organisation
  • Assisting the Compliance Manager in gaining buy-in from compliance stakeholders, below Senior Manager level, across the organisation
  • Building collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in order to improve the flow of information between Compliance and its key stakeholders
  • Contributing to internal development and policy provisions across the business including the creation of compliance policies and procedures and the communication of these
  • Ensuring appropriate elements of relevant compliance policies; e.g. Conduct Risk Policy, are included in the overall Compliance plan, testing policy embeddedness through engagement with Compliance stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with other departments to direct and provide oversight of compliance issues, utilising existing channels (or building new ones) for investigation and resolution.
  • Providing regulatory advice to the business as and when required with regard to the application of the FCA / PRA rules, to their business areas.
  • Supporting the Compliance function with the review and challenge of various business proposals, to ensure there has been adequate consideration of the regulatory requirements and evidence of appropriate actions to ensure delivery of fair customer outcomes
  • Working with the business first line to ensure compliance risk controls are identified, validated and documented through compliance risk assessments

Our ideal candidate for the Senior Compliance Officer opportunity:

  • Has substantial past experience of Compliance work within Financial Services
  • Has excellent knowledge of the FCA and PRA and the relevant regulatory handbooks
  • Has good knowledge of the insurance sales process and of risk assessment methodology, tools and processes
  • Has strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Is highly numerate, with the ability to translate numerical data into actionable MI
