What is a Credit Risk Manager?

Credit Risk, in Financial Services, refers to the risk of a borrower being unable to make payments against the credit they have been leant. Credit Risk Management is therefore the process of mitigating this risk by gathering information on the creditworthiness of potential burrowers and their financial situations, and of the organization’s own capital and loan loss reserves.

• Evaluating strategic credit positions
• Reviewing changes in Largest Exposures
• Assessing Credit Limits
• Checking if provisions are up to date.
• Evaluating if all of the organization’s credit exposures are mapped and covered.
• Identifying all significant risks and conferring with senior management
• Carrying out portfolio analysis, stress testing and scenario testing at high levels
• Assessing past or anticipated changes in provisions
• Analyzing if changes need to be made in specific provisions.
• Making sure all transactions are fully documented and that credit protection is fully understood and utilized by the relevant business units.
