Kind Consultancy is working with a growing specialist lender which is currently seeking a Buy-to-Let Underwriting Manager to join them in a full-time, permanent role in their Hertfordshire offices.

Key responsibilities for the BTL Underwriting Manager will centre on designing, managing, embedding and delivering the credit risk management framework and procedures ensuring best practise is installed within the underwriting procedures, with other activities including:

• Underwriting loan applications in accordance with the firm’s lending criteria, policies and procedures.
• Managing and developing the underwriting team to case manage loans from inception to completion.
• Ensuring SLA’s are maintained and exceeded
• Developing and promoting clear standards of performance within underwriting which support the Company Training and Competency Policy
• Implementing required training and ensuring adequate records of staff training and competence are maintained
• Ownership of the BTL origination platform which will include helping develop effective systems and processes, providing specifications and UAT
• Approving high value loans
• Developing a highly skilled and competent underwriting team and robust credit risk framework.
• Implementing effective underwriting controls across all processes and procedures which minimises the risk of error and promotes compliant and robust underwriting decisions

Our ideal candidate for the BTL Underwriting Manager role:

• Has extensive experience of BTL underwriting
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of FCA regulations
• Is a pro-active, well organised problem-solver
• Is an excellent communicator, able to build and maintain strong working relationships with brokers, borrowers and lenders
• Is analytical, decisive and assertive
• Being CeMAP qualified is not essential but would be desirable
