Kind Consultancy is working with a specialist mortgage lender which is currently seeking a Senior 2nd Charge Underwriter to join them in a full-time, permanent role based in their Hertfordshire office, paying up to £52,000.

The Senior 2nd Charge Underwriter will provide support to the 2nd Charge team leader and act as a referral point to less experienced staff, with key responsibilities including:

• Underwriting large loan applications (up to £250k) and maintain a pipeline of cases.
• Taking ownership of tasks delegated from the Team Leader such as UAT testing , product set up on the lending platform, updating procedure documents, etc
• Managing the Team in the absence of the Team Leader.
• Assisting in training and mentoring and being a referral point to less experienced members of the team.
• Acting as first point of contact for broker support for queries on applications in the absence of the Team Leader.
• Maintaining broker relationships
• Ensuring all underwriting is in line with company policy and within regulation.
• Liaising with introducers, valuers and solicitors
• Ensuring that all cases are Underwritten within the organisation's Risk appetite.

Our ideal candidate for the Senior 2nd Charge Underwriter position:

• Has a strong understanding of FCA regulation and good up-to-date knowledge of the Mortgage market
• Has previous experience of 2nd Charge Underwriting work
• Is a team-player
• Demonstrates consistently strong attention to detail
• Holding CeMAP would be desirable but is not essential
• Must have a minimum of 5 GCSEs A-C (Including Maths and English).
